Today, my training experience is over 22 years in the subject of “professional skills” ‘or “soft skills” as they are more commonly called. It ranges across several topics, such as a person’s personality traits, communication ability, attitude and social etiquette. Professional skills management is recognized globally and is integrated by companies and organizations to enlighten their employees on professional etiquette and attitude.I focus on several of these aspects with my own approach to the subject influenced by international standards of representation and PR management.
The key to being an effective Professional Skills trainer is all in one’s communication skills. By receiving constant training from world famous business colleges I keep myself updated on current trends of training and development which keeps my style of teaching current and innovative. When I first started it was quite a dead field because very few people understood what soft skills really meant, One of my philosophies; “Communicating with a difference” reflects my creative approach in conducting workshops.
About Me
How I got started on this path
My teaching career took off at a very young age when a leading Speech academy requested me to open a centre out of Colombo which I did and it was a great success. After graduating from College I worked as an accountant in a multi-national company and excelled in my field of work. I continued my teaching career as a part time vocation whilst working and achieved the Best teacher’s award from the Wendy Whatmore School of Speech & Drama.
I qualified professionally by obtaining the Licentiate of the Trinity College of London. I took the challenge of working overseas in Australia & New Zealand where the training seed was initially grown in the field of Corporate training. I undertook few training sessions whilst getting the required qualifications and returned back to Sri Lanka and continued training the corporates thereafter.
